Pak police nabs Baitullah's close aide from Karachi
Karachi, Mar.17 (ANI): An anti-extremist cell (AEC) of the Pakistan police has claimed nabbing a close aide of the killed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) chief Baitullah Mehsud from Karachi.
Acting on intelligence input, the AEC team of the Sindh police' Crime Investogation Department (CID) raided a house in the Bin Qasim town and arrested Suleman Mehsud alias Gul Shah alias Naik alias Lal Khan, who is believed to have been very close to Baitullah.
Huge cache of arms and ammunition were also recovered from Suleman's possession.
According to The Daily Times, two kilogrammes of potassium nitrate, around 20 metres of detonation wire and a pistol was recovered, while investigation officials said they are on the look out for Suleman's companions, who are also believed to be hiding in Karachi.
Confirming the arrest, AEC chief Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Omer Shahid said Suleman was also involved in numerous kidnappings, including the one of an official belonging to an international non-governmental organisation (NGO).
"In May 2009, Suleman Mehsud and others kidnapped Mazhar Hussain, general-cum-project manager of ACTED, from Rajanpur and took him to Ladha in South Waziristan by road via Dera Ismail Khan and Dera Ghazi Khan," Shahid said. (ANI)
