Tibetan women commemorate uprising day against Chinese aggression
Dharamsala, Mar 12(ANI): Hundreds of exiled Tibetan women took out a peaceful rally in Dharamsala on Friday to mark the 51st anniversary of the Tibetan Women's Uprising Day which came two days after an uprising led by the Dalai Lama against Chinese rule in 1959.
Members of the Tibetan Women's Association (TWA) together with schoolgirls and nuns marched through the streets carrying placards and waving the Tibetan flag as they raised anti-China slogans.
"Today we are commemorating the 51st anniversary of National Tibetan women uprising that happened in 1959 in Lhasa. A peaceful rally that took by the Tibetan women for over a week fighting for rights of Tibetan people. So, every year we commemorate it," said B. Tsering, an activist.
Every year, the anniversary day commemoration is marked by widespread protests across the globe. (ANI)
