Srinagar, Mar 4 (ANI): Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) organised a music competition in collaboration with the local rock bands in Srinagar.

Around ten to twelve rock bands took part in the rock music competition that enthralled the local youth and encouraged them to display their talent.

CRPF Public Relation Officer (PRO) Prabhakar Tripathy said, "This competition is organised for about 8-10 bands here so that there is a feeling of healthy competition amongst them. And this would encourage the youth who are interested in music. Thus this competition has been organised to motivate the youth."

"Music has no language barrier and it always gives the message of peace, love and harmony, so this competition would prove to be an important step in establishing peace here, since this place needs harmony utmost at this point of time," added Tripathy.

The competition was a spectacle for the locals; as such activities did not take place during the two decades of turmoil.

M. Amin, a rock music performer said, "We can blame it on the situation here which could not bring out the talent of Kashmir people. So we wanted to present the Kashmir talent elaborately in front of everyone."

"We organised this programme and kept 'Sufi theme because we want to give the message of peace that would help in improving the situation here. And we want that more such shows should be organised here," he added

According to the locals, such competitions help a lot the people who have talent but no platform to showcase it.

Ulfat Nazir, a local Kashmiri woman said, "We are feeling very happy as we came to see the show and we also saw the talent and skills of Kashmir youth. We are feeling very happy."

"We want more such shows should be organised here to improve the power of mentality of people here. This would also help in encouraging youth as they can believe that they can also do something," added Nazir.

Tagore hall, where the event took place, was jam-packed with people from different walks of life.

Beside the rock bands like blood rockers, valley boys, Aryan, the local police band also took part in the competition singing patriotic songs.
