Oz players' IPL fate set to be decided tomorrow-following ACA meet

Sydney, Mon, 22 Feb 2010 ANI

Sydney, Feb 22 (ANI): Australian players will decide to play in the Indian Premier League after meeting Australian Cricketers' Association chief executive Paul Marsh in Sydney on Tuesday morning to discuss security threats to the tournament.

The security of foreign players has become an important issue after an Al-Qaeda-linked group issued threats to the World Cup hockey tournament, the IPL and the Commonwealth Games.

Australian fast bowler Shaun Tait hoped to be better informed about the situation before the national side rounded off the home summer in Tuesday night's Twenty20 clash against the West Indies at the SCG.

"The whole situation is a little bit disappointing because I would love to go to the IPL personally and hopefully everything can work out and we can go," The Age quoted Tait, as saying.

Tait is contracted to play for the Rajasthan Royals, but has never played an IPL match due to injury and fitness issues.

This year's IPL tournament is scheduled to run from March 12-April 25.

"I am not sure whose decision it is yet and I think we will probably find out a bit more in this meeting tomorrow. Obviously we talk to Rajasthan over the next couple of days and we see what they have to say but apart from that, the rest is out of our control," he said.

Tait said he wasn't scared of going to India to play, but admitted it was a "serious" situation. (ANI)
