Mystery still surrounds Pak Taliban chief Hakeemullah's death
Peshawar, Feb.10 (ANI): Despite the Taliban in the restive Orakzai agency confirming the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) chief Hakeemullah Mehsud's death, mystery still surrounds the extremist chieftains fate, who is believed to have been killed in a US drone attack last month.
While the Orakzai faction of the banned extremist organisation confirmed Hakeemullah's death, saying he had succumbed to injuries in Multan while being shifted to Karachi for medical attention, militants leaders, who are believed to be close to him, have rejected the report.
They said that Hakeemullah is alive and has gone underground on the advice of the TTP 'shura' (council).
Pakistan Army spokesperson Major General Athar Abbas also expressed his ignorance about Hakeemullah's whereabouts.
"Really, I don't have any solid information about his death," The Daily Times quoted Abbas, as saying.
Interior Minister Rehman Malik also said that he had no credible information in this regard.
"People coming from tribal areas are saying he is dead and has already been buried. However, I don't have any confirmation. I am unable to confirm it," said Malik. (ANI)
