Mixed result for India in US Open doubles
A blend of time for Indian Tennis fans as ace doubles player Leander Paes reached to the Semi-finals of the mixed doubles while Mahesh Bhupathi and his doubles partner Mark Knowles crashed out from the ongoing US Open.
Leander Paes had a good day as he moved to the semi-finals of the mixed doubles with Zimbabwean Cara Black. Leander and his Czech partner Lukas Dlouhy are already into the quarters of the men’s doubles.
The fifth-seeded Indo-Zimbabwean pair had a straight set win over Martin Damm and Vladimira Uhlirova, 7-5 6-2. They will now take on the Swedish-Russian Jonas Bjorkman and Nadia Petrova.
However, Mahesh Bhupathi regarded as India’s most successful doubles pair winning as many as 10 Grand Slam titles together in doubles and mixed doubles failed to move to the men’s doubles quarters after a third round loss to unseeded Argentinean Maximo Gonzalez and Juan Monaco 6-2 4-6 4-6. Earlier, he was also ousted from mixed doubles.
