Recuperating Vayalar Ravi to reach Chennai by a special aircraft

New Delhi, Feb 9(ANI): The Union Government has arranged to bring Minister of Overseas Indian Affairs Vayalar Ravi back to India by a special aircraft with the required medical support on board and is expected to reach Chennai on Wednesday midnight from Abidjan, Ivory Cost.

 

Ravi, who had met with a road accident on February 4 at Monrovia in Liberia, received initial treatment at the John F. Kennedy Hospital, and was later air lifted to Abidjan for further treatment at PISAM Hospital.

 

The Liberian Government, on the request of the Consul General of India in Liberia, had arranged to air-lift Ravi from Monrovia in Liberia to Abidjan.

 

The Minister, who had a miraculous escape, is stable and is recovering well.

 

Ravi has expressed his gratitude to the Indian community and other people who have assisted in his recovery and has also thanked the large number of people including the top leadership of India, who had in the last few days expressed their concern and wished him speedy recovery.

 

The Union Minister has thanked Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and Defence Minister A. K. Antony for making arrangements for his return by a special aircraft.

 

He also thanked Congress President Sonia Gandhi for her good wishes. (ANI)
