Nov 14: Rudra Pratap Singh who had not only bawled with his bowling skill but became the leading light to join the noble cause of Polio eradication campaign of the country on Monday.
R.P Singh in the light of this good cause presented a bat signed by the entire team to Mayawati, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh.
The bat was a memento of team’s involvement to “Bowl out Polio” campaign launched by United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund, UNICEF. The bat had also a written message, “We desire to see all the children of India running and playing. Let’s bowl out polio.”
The medium pacer who hails from Rae Bareilly district of Uttar Pradesh presenting the bat to the Chief Minister on behalf of the whole team said, “We hope that all the parents and everyone associated with polio eradication programme would make this project a success. I hope to see polio bowled out from Uttar Pradesh soon”.
UNICEF mission to eradicate polio has shown a remarkable improvement and as per the report Lucknow and Kanpur have recorded only four cases of P1 poliovirus transmission and five cases of P3 virus. Out of these two, P1 is more dangerous.
With cricketers coming for such a noble cause will certainly provide a mass appeal when the game is imprinted on the nation’s psyche. Their de facto popularity has become the best medium to reach out the remote areas of our country and for sure their message will be paid heed by the common man.
