Malik terms Karachi twin blasts 'sectarian violence'
Lahore, Jan.6 (ANI): Condemning Friday's twin blasts in Karachi, Pakistan Interior Minister Rehman Malik has described the attacks as 'sectarian violence.'
Two bomb blasts within the span of 30 minutes ripped apart Karachi on Friday evening killing 25 persons and injuring over 100 others.
Malik said he has formed a joint team of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), the Intelligence Bureau (IB) and the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to investigate the bombing that killed scores of innocent people on the occasion of 'chehallum.'
He also ruled out reports which suggested that the blasts were suicide attacks.
Meanwhile, people in Karachi observed an announced strike in the city on Saturday to mourn the death of people in the twin bomb blasts.
All schools and colleges remained closed and vehicles remained off the road. Streets and market places wore a deserted look, as people chose to remain inside their house. (ANI)
