Iconic 60's show 'Thunderbirds' set for high tech small screen return

London, Aug 30 (ANI): The Thunderbirds are set to return to the small screen - and this time with hi-tech action scenes.

Creator Gerry Anderson is in talks to buy back the show rights from ITV, after 32 years. The iconic marionettes will now be replaced with computer-generated imagery (CGI).

"I'd do a series of tests," The Sun quoted Anderson, as saying.

"Another way would be to make the puppets in CGI in a way that they looked exactly as they did in the original show.

"They would be able to do everything a human being can do so the action would be much more exciting," he added.

The hit Thunderbirds series was aired in 1965-66, with only 32 episodes, and were later made into a film starring Sir Ben Kingsley in 2004. (ANI)
