Google unveils its SuperPhone 'Nexus One'
The search engine giant Google Inc. on January 05 has officially launched Android based 'Nexus One' making a strong challenge to Apple's iPhone and Motorola's Droid in terms of rich features at lower prices.
Officially citing it as 'SuperPhone', Google Inc has launched this smart phone at its head quarter Google's Mountain View in an invitation-only event. This is the Google's own brand built on Google's Android operating system.
Google has made the nexus with Taiwanese manufacturer HTC to launch Nexus One which had already launched various versions of Google's HTC, based on Android operating system.
The Nexus One is slim, touchscreen and multitasking smartphone which can be unlocked from any GSM carrier. It was launched with a price band of $529 as a standalone handset while on contract with TMobile, it is being offered at a lower rate of $179 for two-year subscription in US.
Nexus One is also made available in United Kingdom (UK), Hong Kong and Singapore, besides United States while in India it can hit the market after few weeks through unofficial channels.
The Nexus One would be rolled out gradually through out the worlds, as per Google's official spokes person responded in a statement.
The standalone Nexus One handset is available for sale in the launching countries through its official website http://www.google.com/phone. The net surfers and interested buyers can visit this site for taking a look.
Elaborating its feature, Google claims, 'Nexus One is a feature rich phone with a 5 megapixel auto focus camera with flash and 4GB SD card, expandable to maximum 32 GB. Its keyboard for all text fields is voice enabled, which is the unique feature in Nexus One.'
Moreover, the Nexus One is equipped with a higher processor of 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset, voiced twitter and email facility, updated Facebook and voice enabled maps through which it gives the driving directions by just speaking into the phone.
After hitting in the market, the mobile experts are comparing Nexus One with Apple's iPhone, and Motorola's Droid from different angles and revealing the different results. For example, a sect of Google's fan is claiming that despite being full of features iPhone 3GS, the latest and updated version of iPhone is still lacking multitasking facilities while it cost higher approximately USD599$ as a standalone handset, while the iPhone's supporter believe that iPhone has over four times of apps than Nexus One.
If we compare Nexus One with iPhone and Droid, we will find that all the three phones have similar features with few differences like the storage capacity of Apple's iPhone 3GS is 16 GB, while Nexus One has only 4GB but it can be extended to 32 GB. The Motorola Droid has 16 GB storage capacity.
Google claims about longer battery life of 7 hours in talk time and 250 Hrs in standby mode while iPhone's and Droid's battery life is 5Hrs and 6.4Hrs respectively in talk time and 300 and 270 hrs in standby mode.
Nexus One is enabled with 5.0 megapixel of camera with video recording facility, whereas iPhone is available with 3.0 megapixel camera with video recording and editing facilities. Motorola Droid comes up with similar feature of Nexus One.
Rest of the features like Wi-Fi, GPS, Voice Commands, and Formats are same in all the three phones.
