Symonds sent home from Darwin for breach of discipline

Melbourne, Aug.30 (ANI): Australian all-rounder Andrew Symonds has reportedly been axed from the squad for the one-day series being played against Bangladesh in Darwin following alleged actions of indiscipline.

Fox Sports quoted Cricket Australia (CA) as saying that the team's leadership group had recommended that Symonds, 33, be sent home

A team spokesman would not outline the exact reasons why, but there is speculation the penalty is related to a discipline breach.

Three years ago Symonds went on a drinking binge the night before a match against Bangladesh, which earned him a two-game suspension and nearly resulted in him being sent home from the 2005 Ashes tour.

Another disciplinary breach will not go down well with the Australian team given acting captain Michael Clarke just spoke of the need to never take any opposition team for granted.

Australia's selectors will meet to discuss sending Symonds' replacement to Darwin.

CA will hold a press conference after the match against Bangladesh to discuss Symonds' departure. (ANI)
