Nov 10: Benazir Bhutto was released from house arrest on Friday after police prevented her from going to Rawalpindi to lead a rally against emergency imposed by General Parvez Musharraf.

It is reported that Bhutto was put under house arrest after she made several attempts to break through police barricade around her residence.

The order was imposed to prevent any suicide attack at the rally and thousand of police patrolled the street of Rawalpindi to prevent Bhutto’s supporter to gather for the rally.

But this does not foiled her attempt and she addressed her party worker and media from behind the barbed wire barricade, in which she repeatedly asked Musharraf to give-up his uniform and go for the election as par as it has been scheduled.

The house arrest of the former Prime Minister was criticised all over the world including its ally US which said that Bhutto should be allowed freedom of movement.

Showing her dissatisfaction to the recent announcement by Musharraf that the general election in Pakistan will be held by mid February, Bhutto said that she will continue her campaign against military government to end the emergency rule from Pakistan.

Bhutto also revealed her plan to lead a long march from Lahore to Islamabad in the coming week.

Earlier on Wednesday, It was reported that US President George Bush in a telephonic conversation asked Musharraf to go for the election as it is scheduled and to take his uniform off. A day after Bush’s call the General announced that the election will be held during mid February.

While it was acclaimed by US, Bhutto denounced it saying that it was not sufficient and he must step down from army Chief within a week.
