Dehradun, Dec 29 (ANI): Former Andhra Pradesh Governor Narayan Dutt Tiwari, who had to resign after his name figured in an alleged sex scandal, defended himself here on Monday.

Talking to reporters here, Tiwari said allegations against him were "baseless".The (allegations) are baseless, fraud. Today, the situation is that it is difficult for anybody to talk to a woman, anyone can allege. They (allegations) are 100 percent wrong," he said.

Tiwari also hinted that he would be active in politics.

"I am not against anyone and have no complains. I will continue to struggle as I did earlier in my life," he added.

Tiwari had sent his resignation to President Pratibha Patil citing health concerns.

As per media reports, a criminal complaint has been lodged with the police by a lawyer seeking Tiwari's prosecution for offences under the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act and other relevant provisions of the CrPc.

The advocate, Gopala Krishna Kalanidhi, has reportedly contended that since Tiwari no longer holds the office of Governor, he is 'open for criminal prosecution for molestation of women and abuse of Constitutional office for personal benefits'.

A local TV channel on Friday ran clips showing Tiwari caught on camera in a compromising position with three women. The clips ran for about an hour before the Hyderabad High Court restrained the channel from airing the video.

Allegations of extra-marital affairs are not new in Tiwari's six-decades-long political career. Tiwari is also a respondent in a paternity suit filed by a man in the Delhi High Court claiming to be his natural son. (ANI)
