Soren exudes confidence of running a coalition government in Jharkhand
Ranchi, Dec.27 (ANI): Jharkhand Mukti Morcha President Shibu Soren is confident of forming and running a coalition government in the State, as he today cherishes the support of Bharatiya Janata Party and All Jharkhand Students Union.
Addressing media persons here on Sunday, Soren said: "Apt ideology has to be followed by everyone, and nobody would go against the agenda. None of our allies believes in wrong ideology. Raguvar Das (chief of BJP's Jharkhand state unit) is a gentleman."
Ending days of speculation, Soren staked a claim to form the next government on Saturday (Dec. 26) with the support of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU) and an independent.
The results for the Jharkhand State assembly elections on December 23 had indicated a hung assembly, with no single party being in a position to form a government on its own.
Congress party and its alliance bagged 25 of the 81 seats while the BJP and its coalition partners won 20 seats alongside the JMM emerging victorious in 18 constituencies. The regional Rashtriya Janata Dal and the AJSU won five seats each.
The State assembly was first placed under suspended animation and later dissolved when elections were announced. (ANI)
