Ranchi, Dec 25(ANI): Jharkhand Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Raghuvar Das on Friday said that their party stands for formation of stable Government in the state and has adopted a policy of wait and watch.

The results for the Jharkhand State Assembly elections threw a hung assembly, with no single party being in a situation to form the Government on its own.

"It is our endeavor to form a strong and stable government in the state, so that Government can fulfill the aspirations of the people. We are now in the state of wait and watch. Those who want to form the Government must make first move," Das said.

Results of the polls held for the 81 seats in the state assembly showed that the Congress party and its alliance claimed the highest number of seats at 25, while BJP and its alliance won 20 seats.

Regional Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) bagged 18, the Rashtriya Janata Dal five, and others winning 13 seats.

The JMM, led by former Jharkhand Chief Minister Shibu Soren, is now in a position to play kingmaker.

Jharkhand, the state with a history of politically unstable coalition Governments, has been under President's rule since January in the wake of a political deadlock, after the then-Chief Minister Soren lost the by-elections, and was subsequently disqualified.

The state assembly was first placed under suspended animation and later dissolved when elections were announced. (ANI)
