Diamond jewellery gets trendy as gold prices skyrocket
Chennai, Dec 25(ANI): Gorgeous models sashayed down the ramp at a fashion show in Chennai to showcase the latest trends in diamond jeweller on Thursday.
With gold prices rising each passing day, this jewellery fashion show lent ample scope for diamonds to further the popularity among those fond of jewellery.
Apart from diamonds, on view were rubies, diamonds, emeralds and platinum jewellery.
Experts opined this is just the beginning and diamond along with platinum has long way to go.
"See, today for the middle class, gold has gone beyond their reach. So what has happened is that diamond is affordable and platinum is also affordable. A one gram, two or three grams platinum ring with a single diamond is great. And they also feel very proud when they possess platinum or a diamond ring," said N. Anantapadmanabhan, proprietor of NAC Jewellers.
Visitors at this exhibition-cum-fashion show were equally upbeat about the diamond and platinum jewellery catching up.
"Diamond has resale value and anytime you give (them back) you get the cash back. So my preference would be diamonds studded in 18 carats, and I really prefer diamonds," said Priya, an admirer of diamond jewellery. (ANI)
