TERI to organize India Energy Conference 2008

New Delhi, Aug 28 (ANI/Business Wire India): Recognizing the grave financial and security implications the skyrocketing crude oil prices has on the economy, The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) in association with Petroleum Federation of India (PetroFed) is organizing India Energy Conference 2008.

 

The conference shall have adequate focus on the upcoming alternative sources of energy, their scope and required policy push to promote them.

 

The conference will be held on October 3-4 at Taj Palace Hotel, New Delhi, and will be inaugurated by the Hon'ble Vice President Hamid Ansari.

 

Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Murli Deora, Minister for New and Renewable Energy Vilas Muttemwar, HE Abbas. A Naqi, Secretary General, OAPEC, Dr. R.K. Pachauri, Director-General TERI and Chairman IPCC, and Sarthak Behuria, Chairman, Petroleum Federation of India and Indian Oil Corporation Ltd will address the conference.

 

The two-day conference has been structured to provide an in-depth analysis of the policy and regulatory aspects in the entire value chain of the hydrocarbon sector. The sessions include exploration and production, refining, marketing and petroleum product pricing. Panel discussions on natural gas market development, utilization and pricing will also be an integral part of the sessions.

 

While discussing alternative energy sources, the conference will focus in their potential in India and identify policy imperatives required to push these sources to move the economy towards a sustainable pathway.

 

In order to encourage insightful and fruitful discussion the conference has invited international and national energy experts. Specifically the conference shall focus on prospects of bio-fuels in the light of the controversies on the use of land for food v/s fuel. To present a balanced view, conference has invited national and international players of the new and renewable energy sources as speakers.
