Wellington, Wed, 23 Dec 2009 ANI

Wellington, Dec. 23 (ANI): Almost two years after he walked out on his Black Caps contract to join the rebel Indian Cricket League, Lou Vincent has revealed his desire to return to the national side.n February 2008, Vincent - who scored a century and half century on his test debut against Australia - caused a stir after signing with the unsanctioned ICL while still contracted to New Zealand Cricket.

It capped off a tough run for the likeable batsman, who, earlier in 2008 had publicly revealed he suffered from depression not long after being dropped from the Black Caps for the Bangladesh series.

With the ICL disbanding, a rejuvenated Vincent, 31, who has been living and playing cricket in England, is targeting a comeback for the Black Caps.is road back could begin as early as this week when he links up with the Auckland Aces.

"I did the ICL thing, which, at the time was the right decision for me because I really needed a break from New Zealand," Vincent, who turned out for Auckland club side Takapuna yesterday, told Sunday News.

"I'm too young to finish up now so I decided to get in contact with Auckland's CEO Andrew Eade and New Zealand Cricket CEO Justin Vaughan.

"They've been really welcoming which is great, especially considering how I left the country a couple of years ago on not too good a note after I signed with the ICL. It's now up to me to get involved and show them that I want to play again," he said.

Vincent's goal to pull on the silver fern again has been welcomed by NZC boss Vaughan.

"I wouldn't have an issue with him playing for New Zealand again at all," Vaughan said.

"Playing for the Black Caps again has been more on my mind in probably the last few months than it has been for the last couple of years," says Vincent, adding, "For me, it's about small steps. ANI)
