After accepting his resignation, the Governor said that he would forward the resignation letter to President Pratibha Patil for acceptance and asked Rangaswamy to continue as caretaker Chief Minister until alternative arrangements are made.
Rangasamy was asked by the Congress High Command to step down as Chief Minister after he failed to muster majority among the party MLAs at the CLP meeting on Monday. (ANI)
