Jammu /Srinagar, Dec 17(ANI) : Activists of People's Democratic Party (PDP), staged a demonstration over the price hike in Jammu while the CBI's report on Shopian murder was protested in Srinagar on Thursday.

Over 2,000 PDP activists gathered at Rajinder Chowk to protest the state government's failure to control the rising prices of daily commodities.

Police stopped the protesters from marching towards Governor's House.

"This government is not paying attention towards people and is giving false hope to the youth. To protest against this People's Democratic Party (PDP) has organized this peaceful march. We are giving a memorandum to the governor and we want to tell the government to improve its stance or else we will start a mass movement," said Manjeet Singh, a senior PDP leader.

Meanwhile, in Srinagar, the PDP activists took to the streets protesting a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the Shopian rape incident.

The charge sheet has been filed against 13 people for allegedly "fabricating" evidence in the aftermath of recovery of two bodies of women in Shopian in May this year, triggering protests.

"The people of Kashmir do not accept the Central Bureau of Investigation report on Shopian. We think it was changed to suit some political motives, we want an investigation into the report," said Nisar Ahmed, a PDP worker. (ANI)
