Nov 06: Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya teacher, UMA Khurana after suffering from mental agony for almost two months filed a criminal defamation suit against the private news channel ‘Live India’ whose reporter managed a fake sting operation presenting Khurana as running a sex racket forcing schoolgirls into prostitution.

Last week only she has been absolved of all the charges by the court. Earlier Police gave her clean chit. In her complaint filed against the TV channel and its CEO, she said that she has undergone different kinds of mental agony, harassment, humiliation and earned a bad name in the eyes of the public and society due to this fake sting operation by the reporter of the channel. It literally defamed her and her family in the society.

In her complaint she also said that channel’s CEO Sudhir Chaudhary had a full knowledge that this fake sting would defame her if aired (which was aired on August 30) and purposely aired the operation to harm her reputation.

This is to be known that after the sting operation was aired on the channel much violence took place in Daryaganj area of Delhi where the school is located. Enraged mob not only mishandled the teacher but also harmed the public property. Even Delhi government suspended Uma Khurana and later terminated her services on the basis of FIR and Media coverage.

Meanwhile the main accused Prakash Singh, the reporter of the channel and his associate Virender Arora have been granted bail by the additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Alok Aggarwal on Monday on a personal bond of Rupees 50,000 and surety each.

Both have also been ordered to submit their passports and not leave the country without the permission of the court.
