Amritsar, Dec.15 (ANI): Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Farooq Abdullah on Tuesday disagreed with the Centre's move to create a separate State of Telangana, an issue which has also strengthened demands for other small States in different parts of the country.

"I am not in favour of the way they want to break up. I think it's a Pandora box. It will not stop. And that money that we need today for hospitals, schools and better conditions of people will be spent on building secretariat, constructions of govt. houses and on creating infrastructure which will not be of any use. That money should be spent on the betterment of the people," said Dr. Farooq Abdullah on the sidelines of a function related to inauguration of the first commercial 2 mega watt solar power plant here.

On Sunday, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister K. Rosaiah said that he had explained, during his discussions with Central leaders, the apprehensions on pushing through a resolution. The Congress high command too did not anticipate that the atmosphere would turn so tense following the announcement on Telangana made by Union Home Minster P. Chidambaram.

According to Rosaiah, the leadership thought of ending the fast launched by Telangana Rashtra Samiti president K. Chandrasekhar Rao through a resolution in the Assembly. By Ravinder Singh Robin (ANI)
