BigAdda.com now on mobile
BigAdd.com, one of the famous social networking sites of India on Monday announced to initiate this innovative facility on mobile to make it handier for its users and to enhance its reach targeting 50-miilion new customers.
This is the first time, when any social networking site is made available on mobile. The mobile version of BigAdda would be known as Mobile Adda. Now sharing, blogging, chatting, uploading photo, audio and video and talking will be more convenient to its subscribers as company claims.
Commenting on this groundbreaking initiative, Nikhil Soman, Chief Technology Officer, BigAdda said, “Social Networking is not restricted to the confines of the pc browser. In India, mobile phones are the preferred and mostly the sole means of connecting with friends and family. This year we are all set to refine and redefine the boundaries of Social Networking in India. This will be a major departure for users of social networks, from being an occasional visitor to now proactively driving their networks.”
Using this service on mobile phones, users can be able to use the phonebook to send invitations to his/her closest network to join this service. The back up of phone book will be available on BigAdda’s server, from where it can be retrieved when the user change the handset or in case of mobile software/ operating system corruption, as per official release.
Moreover, auto-updates alert and notifications and helpful tips facilities will also make available to its users.
The multimedia handset mobile users having Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) facility can download and install this service from its official site: www.bigadda.com or wap.bigadda.com/download by just sending SMS “ADDA” to 55454. It can also be accessed via SMS by simply typing “BIGADDA” as a text message and sending it to 55454.
The MobileAdda software automatically detects the mobile handset model and delivers a version created specially for that device family. There are over 50 device families have been developed to detect the models of mobile and to help in downloading and installing Mobile Adda, while client application has been developed to make available on over 500 mobile phone models.
With this unique technology, Mobile Adda is likely to contribute nearby 50-million more customers to its existing 40-million customers base, as per Big Adda official estimates.
Commenting on this, Shivanandan Pare, Chief Operating Officer, BigAdda said, “With a registered user base of 2 million in a year we needed to sensitise the platform to local aspirations and needs of the market. The number of mobile users today far exceeds the penetration and usage of PCs in India.”

BigAdda.com was launched in August 2007 and claims to offer more security and privacy to its users. It is the subsidiary service of Reliance Communication (RCom) owned by Anil Dhirubhai Ambani, head of Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (ADAG).
