Anelka set to sign œ120K-a-week extension deal with Chelsea
London, Nov. 29 (ANI): French striker Nicolas Anelka is set to sign a whopping 120,000-pounds-a-week extension deal with Chelsea.
Anelka wants to stay at Stamford Bridge for the rest of his career and is eager to Chelsea's platinum pay bracket by the New Year.
"I hope to sign a new contract soon. I am very happy at Chelsea. I have found a home. Ever since I left Real Madrid, I wanted to find a big club again and I have with Chelsea," News of the World quoted Anelka, as saying.
"It is a big club with big players. I feel I am playing the best football of my career and want to carry on playing my best days with Chelsea," he added.
The 30-year-old has led a nomadic existence since his controversial move from Arsenal to Real Madrid 10 years ago.
But since his 15 million-pound move from Bolton in January 2008, Anelka has found personal and professional fulfilment at Chelsea.
Anelka's current 80,000 pounds a week deal has 18 months to run and the club's new chief executive Ron Gourlay is preparing a deal that would push the player comfortably above the 100,000 pounds a week barrier. (ANI)
