Improper costumes mar Elvis Presley's look-alikes' world record attempt
London, August 27 (ANI): An attempt to break the world record for the biggest gathering of Elvis Presley's look-alikes failed when dozens of his fans arrived without a proper costume.
While over 170 persons arrived to sing Viva Las Vegas as part of the record bid, 63 were banned for not wearing proper dresses.
One fan came sporting a pair of sunglasses, while several turned up in jeans and T-Shirts, with their hair combed into a quiff.
The organisers of the event were expecting over 147 look-alikes to beat the existing record, set by Australians in 2001.
However, only 110 participants were "up to scratch".
"It wouldn't be right to claim we've broken the record. But it was great looking out of the pub and seeing dozens and dozens of people wandering down the road all dressed up as Elvis," British tabloid The Sun quoted Pauline Giles, who ran the event in The Ship Inn at Par, Cornwall, as saying. (ANI)
