New Delhi, Dec 11 (ANI): Union Government on Friday urged the Jharkhand voters to come out in large numbers and vote for the candidate of their choice.
In a statement Union Home Minster Chidambaram said: "I would urge the voters in these constituencies to turn out in large numbers and vote for candidates of their choice.
Home Minister's statement came a day before the fourth phase of polling to Jharkhand assembly.
The 14 constituencies which are going to poll on Saturday are known for Naxal activities.
In the statement the Union Home Ministry also reiterated its commitment to put all efforts to ensure free and fare poll in Jharkhand.
"Government is committed to provide security so that the voters can exercise their right to vote without any sense of fear, Chidambaram stated.
"The Jharkhand Administration will provide security in the fourteen constituencies that go to polls on December 12," he added.
Chidambaram said that adequate number of security personnel have been deployed by the Election Commission in these constituencies.
Referring to the large numbers of voters turn out in the previous three phases Chidambaram said: "The impressive turnout was largely due to the eagerness of the people of Jharkhand to participate in the elections and elect candidates of their choice."
Chidambaram said people of Jharkhand have been applauded and free and fair elections constitute the foundation of a democracy. (ANI)
