Tue, 01 Jan 2008 ANI

Peshawar, Aug 27 (ANI): Pakistan security forces claimed to have killed a top Taliban commander in Swat last evening, though a spokesman for the extremist organisation maintained that he died when his pistol misfired.

Security officials said that Ikramuddin, a close associate of Baitullah Mehsud, was killed following a clash in Chota Kalam area of Kabal tehsil, reported the Daily Times.

However, Taliban spokesman Muslim Khan said Ikramuddin died accidentally when he fired his pistol.

Meanwhile, in another incident during the day, two children were killed as a mortar shell hit a house in Madina Colony area of Kanjoo tehsil in Swat.

In Shakardara area of Matta, militants blew up the houses of Awami National Party (ANP) leader Muzaffar Ali Khan and his three brothers. No casualties were reported as the houses were empty at the time of the attack. (ANI)
