Recession lifts lingerie sales as Brits plan pleasure at home this Christmas
London, Nov 26 (ANI): It looks like recession-hit Britons are looking for "pleasure" at home this Christmas, for there has been a drastic increase in the sales of luxury lingerie since last year.
According to High Street experts, there has been 16pct rise in luxury lingerie sales this year.
"Sexy lingerie is definitely a way of making your cash go further," the Daily Star quoted an expert as saying.
"It really is the gift that keeps on giving over and over again," the expert added.
Posh shop Selfridges has revealed that purchases of its raunchy fashion corsets have gone up by 70pct.
The store's entire stock of bondage-style, feather girdles by Bordelle sold out in 24 hours.
In addition, the sale of its Angela Cage bandage dress, priced at 365 pounds has also soared by 90pct after Rihanna, 21wore it on American Music Awards.
Helen Attwood, head buyer for lingerie at Selfridges, said that women were looking to add a "touch of spice" to their lives.
She added: "The trend for underwear worn as outerwear is more popular than ever." (ANI)
