Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India: EU delegation
Srinagar, Nov 26 (ANI): European Union (EU) delegation has described Jammu and Kashmir as an integral and important part of India, but also stated that it needs a solution through peaceful talks between India, Pakistan and concerned people in Kashmir.
A five-member EU delegation, which is on a two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday described the state is an integral part of India.
"We think that the Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India and we want to know what the prospects are, how people here are looking at the situation and how situation evolves," said Lars Olof Lindgren, Sweden Ambassador to India and head of the delegation.
Lindgren said that the Kashmir issue should be solved through dialogue between concerned parties.
"I think the Kashmir issue has to be solved among those concerned here in Indian government and the Pakistan government," he added.
Lindgram said there was an overall improvement in situation across Jammu and Kashmir and the people are feeling more secure and comfortable.
He also said that EU is ready to help in improving the educational standard in the state.
Led by Olof Lindgren, the team included Belgian Ambassador Jean M. Deboutte, Spanish Ambassador Ion de la Riva, Second Secretary (Political Affairs) in the Swedish embassy Oscar Schlyter and EU Ambassador Danielle. (ANI)
