Mumbai police get modern vehicles for coastal security ahead of 26/11 anniversary
Mumbai, Nov 25(ANI): Ahead of the first anniversary of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, state police received 24 state of the art vehicles for patrolling the coastal areas, which were inducted into service on Wednesday.
The new vehicles included 18 all terrain vehicles and six rapid intervention vehicles.
"It can go into all marshy land or it can go into areas where still water is there. It can be used against terrorist attacks or it can be used for rescuing people who are marooned and other things. It can float or it can move in the land and it can be used in all terrain. All terrain means tar road or marshy land or rocky land or anything," said D. Sivanandan, Commissioner of Mumbai Police.
"It can go up in the hill to a certain extent. It has got 38 horse power and it can go up to 30-40 kilometres in a normal situation and can go in the marshy land and we can really used it for multi-purpose," he added.
Meanwhile, gearing up for the first anniversary of terror attack, a police march rehearsal was held from Trident Hotel to Marine Drive.
The parade will be held on Thursday to remember the victims and heroes of the attacks. (ANI)
