Hussey aims to re-establish himself during Windies series
Sydney, Nov 25(ANI): Australian middle-order batsman Mike Hussey will be aiming to re-establish himself as an indispensable figure in the squad during the Frank Worrell Trophy.
Hussey had taken a short break from cricket after a successful one-day tour of India and has returned with his mind focused on a return to the incredible consistency that characterised his first three years in Test cricket.
"I'd like to be able to put as many performances on the board to warrant selection. I want to contribute on a more consistent basis. There's been a few decent scores, but then there has been quite a few low scores as well," The Sydney Morning Herald quoted Hussey, as saying.
"So, I would like to be more consistent, which has been good in the one-day arena, but not so good in the Test arena. That is certainly a bit of a goal. But it comes down to, as long as I feel I am good enough to be in the team and I feel like I can contribute at that level, I will be doing everything I can," he added.
The 34-year-old had scored 313 runs at an average of 104 during the seven game ODI series against India, now the challenge will be to reproduce the same performance in the Test arena.
"'To be able to come into the summer with a fair bit of confidence behind me is good. That has got to help," Hussy said.
"It would be nice to get a couple of good scores early in the Test series to ram it home and, you know, get a few people off my back," he added. (ANI)
