Baloch leaders blast Pak Govt's special package as mere 'jugglery of words'

Islamabad, Wed, 25 Nov 2009 ANI

Islamabad, Nov.25 (ANI): Baloch leaders have rejected the Gilani government's special package for Balochistan as a mere 'jugglery of words'.

Interacting with media persons at Parliament House here, senior Baloch leaders Dr.Abdul Malik and Hasil Bizenjo voiced their concerns over the package, named 'Aghaz-e-Haqooq-e-Balochistan'.

They urged the government to take action on ground and not only on paper.

Malik said the package would further increase hopelessness among the people of the province.

"This new package will add to problems of the people of Balochistan," The Daily Times quoted Malik, as saying.

"The government has failed to address the military operation in the province and has not come up with "concrete steps" to resolve the crisis," Bizenjo added.

Jamhoori Watan Party (JWP) leader Talal Akbar Bugti told a private television channel that the package would add to the sufferings of the people in the province.

Bugti demanded the government to stop the military operation and withdraw troops from Balochistan as soon as possible.

The 39-point Balochistan package proposes the facilitation of the return of political exiles, immediate release of political workers and political dialogue with major stakeholders in the province.

The package also proposes setting up of a fact-finding commission to investigate the circumstances that led to the death of Nawab Akbar Bugti, and a judicial inquiry into the killing of three Baloch nationalist leaders.

It also states that the government should ensure the rationalisation of the royalty formula for natural resources, and the province should be given its due representation in the boards of directors of various petrochemical companies, such as OGDCL, PPL and Sui Southern Gas Pipeline Ltd. (ANI)
