Militants kills five security personnel in Manipur
Imphal, Nov 25 (ANI): At least five paramilitary troopers, including an army major and a captain of the 43 Assam Rifles were reportedly killed in an ambush near Somtal village in Chandel district of Manipur.
The ambush was believed to have been laid by the cadres of the outlawed United National Liberation Front (UNLF).
According to reports, armed militants of the UNLF attacked a convoy of the paramilitary Assam Rifles that was patrolling in a gypsy and a truck near Somtal, about 120 kilometres from Imphal.
The deceased personnel have been identified as Major Bhupendra Mehra, Medical Officer, Captain (Dr.) Amar Kumar, Havildar Parmar and Riflemen Navayan Singh and Ajoy Singh.
The bodies were brought to Imphal on Tuesday and have been kept at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences. (ANI)
