Trott prefers Birmingham to Cape Town

Johannesburg, Tue, 24 Nov 2009 ANI

Johannesburg, Nov.24 (ANI): England batsman Jonathan Trott returns to Cape Town this week, but insists he would rather live in Birmingham.

England's newest South African-born batting star reckons you can forget the joys of Table Mountain, sunshine, beaches, seafood and delicious wine.

Trott, who scored 87 in England's emphatic victory in the second one-day international on Sunday and put on 162 with centurion Paul Collingwood, says he looking to doing the same on Friday at the famous Newlands ground which is less than half a mile from where Trott grew up.

"Newlands is a great ground. It's definitely a place I'm excited to come back to. I'll have to control the emotions and treat it as just another game like I did on Sunday. But it doesn't really feel like coming home. Cape Town is very different to when I left seven years ago, it has really changed. To be honest, the last two or three times I've been here I couldn't wait to get back to England," The Sun quoted Trott, as saying.

"A lot of people talk about the attraction of the weather, but there's no way I'll go back to South Africa when I retire. I'm very happy in Birmingham and playing for Warwickshire and England," he added. (ANI)
