Widows of 26/11 martyrs meet Sonia
New Delhi, Nov 23 (ANI): The wives of 26/11 martyrs, Hemant Karkare and Vijay Salaskar, called on Congress Party president Sonia Gandhi here on Monday.
The meeting came just three days before the first anniversary of the 26/11 terror attacks during which Karkare and Salaskar died while fighting terrorists near Cama Hospital.
Both Kavita Karkare and Smita Salaskar demanded to award capital punishment to Ajmal Kasab, the lone Pakistani terrorist who was caught during the attacks.
According to the sources, they said Sonia Gandhi that justice would be done only if Kasab was hanged.
Both Kavita and Smita raised the issues pertaining to the victims of the Mumbai terror strikes with Sonia Gandhi.
Earlier in the month, Kavita had raised questions on the disappearance of the bullet-proof jacket worn by her husband Heamant Karkare on the night of the 26/11 Mumbai attacks.
She had even filed an application under Right to Information Act (RTI) but was told the jacket is missing.
"When his body was found, the bullet-proof jacket was missing. I filed an RTI application a few months ago asking where is the jacket but the reply I got was that it is missing, Kavita had said. (ANI)
