Nov 01: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar ordered CBI inquiry

Before Bihar could take a deep breath from the frenzied incidents, it is dragged again in the nations circulations.

In a frantic incident an MLA of Bihar Anant Singh with his bodyguards beat up media men of a private TV channel, on the stake of knowing his side of story after a sack containing a woman’s body was recovered in the Patel Nagar area of Patna.

The Bihar ruling Janata Dal-United (JD-U) party MLA and his supporters held captive a senior journalist Prakash Singh of NDTV and beat him mercilessly.

It is said that the woman whose body has been found in Patel Nagar had allegedly written to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar accusing Anant, his bodyguard Vipin Singh and builder Mukesh Singh of raping her.

She has mentioned in the letter that she was lured by Mukesh to get her a job in his company and accusing Anant she has written that the later wanted her register false case against some people for which he also offered her money.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister has ordered for a CBI probe into the whole matter; four supporters of the MLA including Anant were arrested after the incident came into notice. But the arrest came after five hours of the incident.

Rabri Devi, the Leader of Opposition said "The attack on the mediapersons is an assault on the freedom of the media,” while visiting the Journalist at Gardanjbagh Hospital where they are under treatment.

Meanwhile, the opposition party Rashtriya Janta Dal (RJD) has called for bandh on Friday to protest against the incident.

Anant Singh with a history of such malpractice is an MLA from Mokama. There is a long list of criminal cases pending against him.

The MLA, who is considered as a close aide of CM Nitish, will give him tough time solving the issue as the media’s glare is constantly on him.
