Islamabad, Aug 25 (ANI): After winning the September 6 presidential election and assuming Pakistan's highest post, PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari will not disassociate himself from the party, and instead appoint a steering committee to deal with the day-to-day party affairs.

The committee would be responsible for disposing of crucial matters relating to the party till his son PPP Chairman Bilawal takes over the PPP, reported The News.

Zardari will not quit the office of the PPP after getting elected as the president of the country, added the paper.

According to the paper, the PPP leaders have impressed upon their Co-chairman not to think of relinquishing the party office since he was mere a custodian of the office not an office bearer in strict terms. They have reminded him that the Constitution does not forbid him from holding the party office and the presidency simultaneously.

As per the set tradition, a person has to disassociate himself or herself from the political party he or she belongs after assuming any gubernatorial post. (ANI)
