Injured Bengal tiger heads for new abode
Siliguri (West Bengal) Aug 24 (ANI): A Royal Bengal Tiger suffering from septicemia has been cured and shifted to South Kahyerbari rescue center in West Bengal.
The Tiger was rescued six months ago with an injured hind paw supposedly bit by a crocodile from the Sunderbans, one of the last preserves of the Bengal Tiger.
The injury was in a bad state and had developed septic.
"Any further delay in treatment could have been perilous," said forest officials.
They added that though the treatment has been done, but the deep injury has left the Tiger incapable of living in the wild. It also suffered from anaemia, which was cured.
The Royal pride, accustomed to the wilds is being kept in isolation for a few days so that it can adapt to the new environment at the South Kahyerbari rescue center.
The South Kahyerbari rescue center was set up in 2005 for the rescued circus animals initially. It is one of its own kinds in India and is a home for ten Tigers, apart from this new member. (ANI)
