Amritsar , Nov. 9 (ANI): BJP activists in Amritsar staged a protest against the rising prices of essential commodities on Monday.
Holding placards and raising slogans against the Congress party, protestors burned effigies of leaders of the UPA Government.
"The government is making unprecedented profit, which is pinching the pockets of the common man. It is a set up lay showing that the sugar and lentils prices are running low, whereas they make billions of profits while we are experiencing a price rise," said Anil Joshi, a BJP MLA.
The food prices rose 13.39 percent this year, highlighting concerns that the index could stay high despite government efforts to keep a lid on prices.
Last week, the government said the wholesale price inflation was 1.51 percent. (ANI)
