New Delhi, August 23 (ANI): Scores of Tibetan exiles on Saturday gathered in New Delhi, to protest against violation of human rights by Chinese authorities inside Tibet.
The protesters gathered at the historical site of 'Jantar Mantar' in the Capital.
Swaying the Tibetan flag and shouting slogans like 'Free Tibet' and 'Long Live Dalai Lama' they tried to motivate the fellow protestors.
The police forcibly took away the four Tibetan exiles, who were sitting on hunger strike for the past few days, to the hospital.
The protesters were on an indefinite hunger strike under the 'Indefinite fast for Tibet-without Food and Water' movement, to attract the attention of the international community towards the Tibetan cause.
"Today is the eighth day of indefinite fast for Tibet without food and water and the third batch has entered the eighth day. Four of the hunger strikers health has become very critical. The doctors at Ram Manohar Lohia hospital have advised that the hunger strikers need immediate admission otherwise there is a risk to their life. So, the police have forcibly, without our knowledge taken all the hunger strikers except one," said Thundukorje, Vice President, Tibetan Youth Congress.
China has accused followers of the Dalai Lama, the exiled Tibetan leader, of stirring riots and protests in Tibetan region in March in a bid to upstage Olympic preparations. The Dalai Lama has denied the charge and said he does not oppose the Games.
The Dalai Lama has rejected accusations that he is behind the unrest and has supported the Chinese right to host the Olympics.
But groups campaigning for Tibetan independence have said they will use the Games to voice their demands and concerns over the alleged Chinese atrocities in Tibet.
With the Olympic Games concluding on Sunday the Tibetans in exile assert that more intensified campaigns would be organised in the near future. (ANI)
