When Ian Botham was fed lambs eyes and swamp worms by aborigines!

London, Aug 23 (ANI): Former England Test cricketer Sir Ian Botham has revealed that he had a first hand experience of the bushtucker trial while he was in Australia.

A bushtucker trial consists of the eating of raw insects and raw animals and wild vegetation. It is predominant in the outback of Australia.

Botham, 52-year-old, who promoted British beef alongside former England team-mate Allan Lamb as animated characters Beefy and Lamby, once stayed with a group of aborigines north of Darwin and sampled some rather unique cuisine.

"I've had lamb's eyes. I popped them in my mouth and chewed through them. Fortunately, they did us the honour of removing them from the lamb first," Daily Express quoted him as saying.

"They gave me live swamp worms to eat. You hold one end and squeeze down the body to get rid of the sand and then pop it in your mouth. I had three, though I didn't spend much time savouring the flavour," he added. (ANI)
