Koda to face arrest soon: I-T Dept
The Income Tax (I-T) department on November 05 has made it clear that Madhu Koda, former Chief Minister of Jharkhand who is suspected in alleged fresh hawala case of Rs.2000-crore can not be escaped and will be arrested as soon as he is discharged from hospital.
In this regard, the I-T department and Enforcement Director (ED) have directed to the ARA Memorial Weaver’s Hospital (Ranchi) - where Koda is admitted - to not to release him without informing them.
The ED had also issued a summon to former CM who had admitted himself following the complaints of high blood pressure and stomach ache on Tuesday. The ED has issued summon to the hospital and asked the doctors for his medical certificate regarding his health complaint.
Earlier on Wednesday, the I-T department sealed Koda’s house in Ranchi.
A team of Enforcement Department and I-T department had arrived Ranchi to investigate the case of Hawala emerged five days ago. Both the ED and the Income Tax department have started scrutiny of documents recovered during the raids.
The ED had also issued a summons to seven of Koda’s aides in connection with alleged hawala transactions and directed them to present before the directorate on November 9, 10,11.
In case of violating the summons, the accused would have to face serious legal actions, the ED official said in a statement.
