Campaigning picks up for Firozabad bypoll
Firozabad (UP), Nov 5 (ANI): Bollywood actors and top political leaders landed here as campaigning picked up for Saturday's bypoll to the lower house of Parliament.
Samajwadi Party President Mulayam Singh Yadav has fielded his daughter-in-law Dimple Yadav in the seat held by his party.
"You gave me so much respect, made me the State chief then it is your responsibility to save our respect," Yadav told a rally in Firozabad.
It was a field day for Bollywood as actor-turned politician Sanjay Dutt, lawmaker Jayaprada and Jaya Bachchan joined party general secretary Amar Singh at another rally in Etawah district.
Meanwhile, Bollywood actor and former lawmaker Govinda campaigned for the Congress leader Raj Babbar.
"Be with the party which is there for you, which works for your development, that is what the youth of today wants," Govinda said.
Firozabad seat fell vacant after Akhilesh Yadav, SP leader and son of Mulayam Singh Yadav, resigned the seat to retain Kannauj parliamentary constituency, both of which he won in the April-May national elections. (ANI)
