A fair in Gwalior showcasing breathtaking events draws a huge crowd
Gwalior, Aug 23 (ANI): Hundreds gathered here for the traditional annual 'Chakri Mela', which enthralled the people with a display of breathtaking display of acrobatics and various other dare devils stunts.
Participants exhibited their skills through dare devil stunts like getting a stone broken on one's chest, lifting a heavy tyre and putting it around the neck and throwing a ball tied to a thread in the air.
The participants were very enthusiastic and they felt it was an excellent platform for them to hone their skills.
"I request them to organise this fair more than once a year. This fair should be given more encouragement," said Dinesh Rathore, a participant.
The participants were awarded prizes for displaying their extraordinary skills.
The Municipal Corporation of Gwalior is making efforts to revive the traditional fair that has been gradually fading away.
"It is a traditional event which takes place every year and the Municipal Corporation organises it. We are planning to revive this fair and are also allowing around 20-25 children to participate in it. We hope the fair will be organised in a grand way next year too," said Vivek Shejwalkar, Mayor, Municipal Corporation, Gwalior.
The 200-year- old annual fair that passed down traditional sport over generations, has been gradually dying out due to poor patronage. (ANI)
