Fruit transportation returns to normalcy in violence-hit Jammu
Jammu, Aug 23 (ANI): Fruit transportation in Jammu goes on smoothly as normalcy is returning to the region in the wake of violence triggered by Amarnath land row issue.
Traders and transporters are happy that they would once again be able to continue with their business peacefully.
"We did not face any problem on the way. Around 200-250 trucks loaded with apples have come. With this our livelihood has opened," said Mohammad Ashraf, a truck driver.
The revocation of the order allotting land to the shrine Board has sparked off a massive protest in Jammu resulting in shutdown and curfew for last few weeks.
The protestors have reportedly caused damage to the trucks loaded with fruits and have caused a terror amongst the fruit dealers and truck drivers causing loss to the fruit industry.
Horticulture is the second biggest industry in the Kashmir valley and most of the produce is marketed outside the Valley. (ANI)
