London, Aug 22 (ANI): Coronation Street bosses have roped in Indian beauty Ayesha Dharker after they were accused of being "too white".

Few weeks ago, a study by equality chief Trevor Phillips blasted soaps for showing only black and Asian stereotypes.

The 31-year-old Dharkar, who starred in Star Wars Episode II, will appear on the show from October playing Tara Mandal on the ITV1 soap.

"We really want Ayesha to become a favourite with viewers," The Sun quoted an insider, as saying.

Dev played by Jimi Harkishin, who will fall head over heels in love with Dharker, will be seen caught between the two women on the show. (ANI)
