Sania with her fellow Indians cling to their rankings
Oct 30: India’s tennis sensation Sania Mirza alongwith her fellow Indian tennis players clung on to their places in the latest WTA and ATP ranking lists released on Monday. Sania dropped two places in the last week rankings but managed to hold on her position despite being out of the circuit due to injury.

The 20-year old Sania upheld her 32nd position and also there is no change in Sunitha Rao’s ranking. She is currently 182nd on the WTA singles ranking chart.
Sania had to cut short the final leg of her season due to stomach injury still she managed to remain in top-20 bracket in the doubles rankings for the last two weeks, currently ranked 19th. Sunitha also maintained her 152nd position in the doubles as well.
Meanwhile, Sania will be seen straightaway in action in the Hopman cup along with compatriot Rohan Bopanna, where she earned a direct entry. The tournament begins on December 30.
Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi also held on to their previous 17th and 21st positions in the individual rankings respectively of the doubles ATP rankings.
However, Tara Iyer went 12 rungs down in the latest WTA realease. She lost two back-to-back first round singles matches in Australia and conceded 12 positions to be 371st in the latest singles rankings.
Despite Wimbledon second round loss Sania moves to 38th in WTA ranking.
Sania progress into the 2nd round of Cincinnati Open, both in singles and doubles.
