Oct 29: Osian’s New Delhi Heroes drubbed local rival SAIL City club 4-0 in a one-sided encounter to snatch the last main round spot at the 120 th Osian’s Durand Cup match played at the Ambedkar stadium here on Sunday.

Cheem Okerie wards were at their best on Sunday and the opposition seemed no match to them. Osian’s New Delhi Heroes will now clash with Air India on November 01 in the main draw.

All four goals came in the first half that too in a span of 15 minutes, including a brace by Harvinder Singh.

Heroes opened their goal rout in the 18th minute of the game through Harvinder Singh. Ten minutes later Harrison unleashed a stunner to make it 2-0.

Harvinder once again came into action and scored his second and team’s third goal in the 30th minute via free-kick. Gyan Moyon added one more in the 33rd minute to complete the tally. Osian’s New Delhi Heroes led 4-0 at the stroke of lemon break.

On resumption, SAIL City FC players did come up with some aggression but it went in vain while Heroes players had a lackadaisical approach in the second half, which will be a concern for them in the coming match, with no further goals adding to their tally.

Meanwhile Air Force XI also secured a place in the main draw of the Durand Cup, as they overcame a spirited Amity United 2-1 in their last qualifying encounter of the tournament on Saturday.

After a barren first half, Airmen drew the first blood in the 63rd minute of play when Kalyan Pal of Air Force XI headed it home after receiving a fine aerial ball from TTS Stephen.

The airmen increased their lead through Lal Ram Zuava in the 78th minute via penalty kick. Amity United’s Tushar Chaudhary scored lone consolation goal for his team in the 83rd minute. Air Force XI will now fight it out with Dempo SC in the pre-quarters on November 01.
