Poll campaigning concludes for Maharashtra, Haryana, Arunachal Pradesh

New Delhi, Oct 11 (ANI): Campaigning for Tuesday's State Assembly elections in Maharashtra, Haryana and Arunachal Pradesh concluded on Sunday evening.

 

During the month long process, the Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, addressed an election rally at Pasighat in Arunachal Pradesh, Congress Party President Sonia Gandhi had addressed rallies at Karnal and Sirsa in Haryana, while Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi had addressed a rally in Bhopal.

 

In Maharashtra, Sonia Gandhi addressed rallies in Kolhapur, Nagpur and Mumbai.

 

Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders L. K. Advani, Rajnath Singh, Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley also campaigned in these states.

 

It is notable that all the three States are ruled by Congress, which shares power in Maharashtra with Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) as a coalition partner.

 

Maharashtra has a 288-member State Assembly, Haryana; a 90-member Assembly and Arunachal Pradesh 60 members.

 

There are 82,028 (Maharashtra), 12,894 (Haryana), and 2,061 (Arunachal Pradesh) polling centres in the three states.

 

Counting will take place on October 22. The election process will be completed on October 25. (ANI)
